Creating Fun Physical Activity
What You Can Do as a Parent
-
Remember when selecting
movement activities, fun always needs
to be the main goal.
-
Create
choices that children can do by themselves,
with friends and with family:
-
Children
by themselves can:
Dance to kids music
Practice somersaults
Pretend to play a sport
-
With
Friends:
Play games like duck duck goose or hopscotch
Take a ballet or swimming class
-
With
Family:
Go on a walk
Play at the park or beach
Ride bikes
-
Limit
sedentary activities to 1-2 hours per day.
Consider unplugging the TV altogether and
see what possibilities bloom.
-
Make
increasing physical activity a family
affair.
